Help Us Make Room

People are reaching out for counseling, but our current capacity means many must wait. Our Make Room campaign will help us hire another counselor so more individuals and families can receive care at low to no cost.

About Runnin' Free Ranch

Amy Dojahn, co-founder of Runnin’ Free Ranch has had a passion to help people ever since she was a young child. At age 4 she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and was not able to walk after the age of 10. But God knew the plans He had for her and horses were a part of that plan. In 1994 she became a licensed professional counselor and met the love of her life, Ken (DJ) Dojahn in 1999. They married in 2003. DJ had a huge servant’s heart and he knew he wanted to help others in whatever way God wanted him to. Since then God has been at work uniting their hearts and providing the way for them to work together helping veterans, those with special needs, at-risk youth and their families through equine assisted counseling/activities. DJ and Amy have been called to offer nontraditional equine assisted counseling at no to low cost. Their desire is to offer freedom to all removing as many obstacles as possible. In 2015 this vision became a reality with Runnin Free Ranch being birthed and becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  ​

A Note from Amy On September 19, we gathered at the historic Telico Gin to launch our new two-year campaign, Making Room. What an incredible evening it was! From the first moments to the final conversations among friends, we could see God’s hand throughout the evening. At the heart of our gathering were the stories of Runnin’ Free Ranch and the mission God has entrusted to us. Through testimonies and storytelling, guests caught a glimpse of the work God is doing here at the ranch. They heard stories of hope renewed and healing experienced through real relationships between clients, counselors, and horses. For me, it was a beautiful reminder that behind every session is a person with a story—and the possibility of finding their way back to hope. We were humbled and grateful to raise $23,204 during this kickoff event, taking an important first step toward our initial goal of $100,000 by the end of March 2027. But the heart of Making Room is the people we will be able to welcome. Hiring another counselor will allow us to serve more individuals and families who are waiting for care. I look forward to sharing their stories, updates from the ranch, and our progress through this new newsletter.
