Graduate Counseling Programs Collaboration: We're excited to share that Runnin Free Ranch is continuing to partner with graduate counseling programs to offer a unique learning experience for counseling interns that enriches their education and provides additional access to our services.  OFF the HOOF by Zeke I am Zeke, one of the therapy horses at Runnin Free Ranch, and today I want to share a special story. You see, I'm blind in one eye, a unique aspect of my being that has become a bridge to connection with a remarkable young person. She, too, is blind in one eye, and in our shared journey, we discovered a profound connection that transcends words. Our therapeutic journey began slowly, as relationships often do. She chose me as her relational therapy partner, perhaps recognizing a shared understanding that went beyond the surface. We started by spending time together, with no expectations or pressures. She approached me, and I, in turn, remained calm and open to this newfound companionship. Under the guidance of our licensed professional counselor and equine specialist, we embarked on a journey of exploration. Together, this young person and I delved into her feelings about herself – her worthiness of my attention and, by extension, her self-worth. In our sessions, as we spent time together, I sensed a shift. Slowly but surely, I felt the rise of her confidence, a quiet assurance that she was indeed worthy of my attention. As the grass rustled beneath my hooves, I made a conscious choice to give her my attention, to be present in our shared space. Together, we continue to learn what healthy, connected relationships look like. Through our unique connection, we navigate the terrain of trust, vulnerability, and understanding. In the dance of our sessions, we discover that sometimes, it's not about the words we speak but the shared experiences that build the foundation of connection. As we continue to explore this journey together, I'm reminded that healing and growth happen when hearts align.
