Gratitude Corner – July Edition
Gratitude Corner – july Edition
We want to extend our deepest thanks to all of our generous donors—your support helps make the healing that happens here at the ranch possible. Because of YOU, our recent Freedom Trail Camp was a beautiful success, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.
This week-long camp was filled with learning, laughter, growth, and connection. From the kiddos and horses to our counselors and volunteers, everyone played a vital role in creating something truly special. We couldn't have done it without our amazing helpers—thank you! Throughout the week, we focused on the word TRAIL, using it as an anchor to explore key life lessons.

Our horses, clients, and team members grew in ways that touched us deeply. We will forever treasure the lessons learned and the precious memories made. As the ranch continues to grow, we are incredibly thankful for our team. We are united in purpose—we pray together, laugh together, and hold onto hope together. Everything we do is for the greater good of this mission, and the energy here is something truly special. The vibe at the ranch? Simply amazing. Thank you for being a part of it.
Off the Hoof: With love from Zeke, your faithful four-legged friend
Dear Friends,
They say you can’t teach an old horse new tricks—but I’ve learned the heart always has room to stretch. I’m Zeke. 28 years young. I’ve seen a lot—storms pass, children grow up, and broken hearts begin to heal. But every so often, I meet someone who reminds me why I’m still here—hooves steady on this sacred ground we call Runnin Free Ranch.
Not long ago, I met a quiet soul. Unsure, carrying something heavy. When asked about boundaries, her face shifted—like the word itself held more than she could name. She didn’t answer with words, but reached for my lead rope. Ah, I thought. You want me closer. So I moved toward her. But as I stepped forward, she flinched. I felt it—that sudden ripple of anxiety when closeness comes too soon. So I paused. I listened.
Then Remi, our mental health and equine specialist, stepped in, as she does—calm, kind, knowing. She showed my new friend how to tell me clearly where her boundaries were. Where she needed space... and where she welcomed connection. And just like that—I understood. Once I saw her boundary, her “no,” it made space for a beautiful “yes.”
We began to walk—side by side. Not too close, not too far. In stride. In peace.
She smiled.
Oh friends, you should’ve seen it. Not just a smile, but a release. A moment of healing that wrapped around both of us. Because when someone has a boundary—not out of fear, but out of love—something sacred happens.
We both get to walk in peace.
And that, dear reader, is what healing looks like. Sometimes it has four legs. Sometimes two. But always—it begins with trust.
With soft eyes and a grateful heart,
Zeke
Your faithful therapy horse
