Gratitude Corner – August Edition

We are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible donors, sponsors, and community partners who continue to stand beside Runnin Free Ranch. Your generosity sustains the heart of our mission and empowers us to serve those in need of healing.  We are especially honored to have been part of the Hillsboro Walmart Grand Reopening celebration, where we were awarded a Walmart Spark Grant—a blessing that fuels our journey forward. Every dollar, every act of kindness, and every word of encouragement helps us turn hope into healing.  Thanks to your support, our impact has grown dramatically since opening our gates in 2016: From just 80 sessions in our first year to nearly 1,000 by 2022, the demand for trauma-focused, equine-assisted mental health care has never been clearer. When we've had the privilege of more counselors and interns, we've been able to serve more families—proof that the need is real and the healing is effective. But growth has its challenges. We've outgrown our current facility, and our waitlist grows longer. That’s why we’re working to raise $500,000 for a permanent home where no one has to wait for help.  Your continued support is not only appreciated—it’s life-changing.

Because of you:

  • More veterans, youth, and their families find comfort and care
  • Our rescued therapy horses continue to heal hearts, one session at a time
  • We remain committed to providing services at little to no cost for those who need it most

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of our journey. The need is growing. The healing is real. And with your help, we can continue to run free—together.

Off the Hoof: From Chloe’s Heart

Hey there, friends — It’s me, Chloe — your girl with the soft mane and the strong heart. I’ve been trotting alongside some incredibly brave little ones lately. They come to me with eyes that sometimes don’t meet mine right away, hearts holding stories too heavy for someone so young. Sometimes, I feel like doing my own thing — sniffing the breeze, flicking my tail at a fly, or just standing quietly under the sun. But more often than not, I feel this pull to connect, to share calm and kindness from my heart to theirs. I’m here. Even when they’re not quite ready to reach out, I’m already reaching toward them in my own pony way.  The therapy team asks them, “What’s Chloe doing right now?”
And sometimes that simple question opens a door. It helps them see that I’m not just a pony in the pasture — I’m a friend standing steady, offering love without conditions.  I know trust doesn’t come easy. I can feel it in the way some of them flinch or freeze.  But I stay. I stand tall and patient. I let them know through gentle nudges and stillness that connection can be safe. That healing begins with one soft touch, one shared breath.  It means the world to me to be part of their journey — to help show them what healthy love looks like, without asking them to be anything other than exactly who they are.

That’s what I do. That’s who I am.  With love from the pasture, Chloe
